As part of A Case for Place Jake Attree was here in June delivering an Artists Professional Development Day ‘Drawing to a Point’. Which included Jake outlining to participants his experience as an artist, as well as his approach to drawing and sketching followed by a demonstration with the group then putting his tips in to practice making drawings of their own around the building with input and guidance from Jake on both their drawings and portfolio work and where wanted some advice on approaching galleries and how participants might go about building a career in the arts.
Another great session with a big thumbs up form attendees:
“Fine company, excellent advice and direction. A very worthwhile activity!”
“Very informative and a really nice bloke!”
“Lots of new ideas – ideas the more to work on!”
“Jake was so helpful and full of advice. Inspirational day!”
Jake is very generous with his time, experience and knowledge … we can’t recommend his sessions enough. The good news is he’s back early 2019 with 2 Day Landscape Workshops, exploring the River Ancholme through sketching and painting. Jakes own work is breath taking and shows the skills and time of a passionate practicing artist so definitely an exciting opportunity. Full details of this workshop are on our Workshops & Events page here. We’re taking bookings now so do get in early to secure your place :) !
We’ll always be adding to our programme so please do sign up to our Gallery Steel Rooms Mailing List for all up to date information on exhibitions, events and workshops and visit the Workshops & Events page of our website for a full list of all we have coming up … coming up later in the year we have poetry readings and classical music, with lots more in the pipeline.
